Eye Candy: Horse Love

I have been obsessed with horses ever since I was a girl. Growing up, my best friend’s family had a farm and lots of horses. I started riding horses all the time, and eventually my mom bought me one of their horses. I was in heaven. My best friend and I would jump on our horses and be gone all day exploring the countryside around their house. We would gallop through the woods and jump fallen trees. When it was really hot, we’d go swimming with the horses. That was my favorite thing to do. I also got really into barrel racing. For those of you who don’t know what that is, it’s a competitive sport where you race through a course set up in an arena. It usually involves weaving around baskets, poles, or barrels as fast as you can without knocking anything over. Man, it was fun.
But alas, then came along junior high, and my best friend and I went to different schools and slowly drifted apart. I’ve always held on to my intense love of horses. To me, they are the ultimate animal eye candy: the graceful arch of their necks, the balanced curves of their muscled legs and shoulders, their fluid movements, their big soft eyes, and their tousled, flowing manes.
One of my dreams is to own a horse again one day. But even if I don’t, I’ll always cherish those wonderful memories of riding through the woods on the back of one of the most majestic animals on Earth.
